Breastfeeding Support

Sometimes a mutually fulfilling breastfeeding relationship may take a little bit of practice, patience and extra effort in the beginning, but most women CAN successfully breastfeed! Educating yourself before the birth of your baby is a great start!

Intuition Birth Services offers support with:

Breastfeeding Classes
In-home Breastfeeding Consultations
Weekly Breastfeeding Support Group

  • Prenatal breastfeeding classes. Learn about what to expect with breastfeeding both during the newborn stage and as your baby grows. We explore getting breastfeeding off to a good start, how to avoid or resolve common breastfeeding challenges, and how to know your baby is getting enough milk. Also covered are tips for comfortable breastfeeding, when and how to get additional assistance, pumping, and going back to work. Partners are encouraged to attend, as partner support has been shown to make a significant difference to breastfeeding success.

For information on private breastfeeding classes, please contact info@intuitionbirth.com or call 805-504-3920.

  • Consultation with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in your home. Compassionate expert assistance and guidance is provided in the comfort of your own home. A custom plan of care will be created for those who may be experiencing specific difficulties, or for those who just need some reassurance and tips with concepts such as latch, identifying milk supply issues, normal breastfed baby behavior and more. Your baby will also be weighed. If you are experiencing any of the following, a private consultation may be helpful for you and your baby:
  • Sore, cracked or bleeding nipples
  • Infant weight loss or insufficient weight gain
  • History of breast surgery or trauma
  • Milk supply concerns
  • Transitioning baby from bottle to breast
  • Pumping to maintain or increase milk supply
  • Health or developmental concerns (mother or baby) that affect breastfeeding
  • Inducing lactation or
    "re-lactating"
  • Other issues specific to you and your baby
  • Pediatrician recommendation

  • Weekly breastfeeding support group. One of the most significant contributors to the success and enjoyment of breastfeeding is the support for your decision to do so from those around you. Come get answers to your questions, share your experiences and find or lend a sympathetic ear in a friendly and supportive environment. We discuss everything from breastfeeding your newborn, to pumping, to going back to work, as well as more general topics such as infant behavior, sleep patterns, soothing fussy babies and starting solids. Breastfeeding isn’t just about feeding your baby! We welcome all new mothers and their nursing babies, whether exclusively breastfeeding, partially breastfeeding, pumping and feeding, or navigating the weaning process. A scale is available to weigh your baby.

This weekly drop-in group is facilitated by Tara Stivers. No registration is required.

Day/Time: Fridays, 1:15 - 2:45pm
Location: Camarillo Yoga Center, 5800 Santa Rosa Road, Suite 127, Camarillo
Cost: There is no fee to attend. A suggested donation of $5 - $10 per session is appreciated to help cover costs.

You may also visit La Leche League International for information about breastfeeding support groups available in your area.
