Childbirth Classes

Group childbirth classes are available at Amgen in Thousand Oaks for couples where one or both partners are employees of Amgen. Please contact the AmGym for information.

Active Birth Workshop

This workshop is designed to provide mothers-to-be and their partners with tools to help them be active participants in the birth of their child. This workshop does not replace a traditional childbirth series, but is a good supplement for those who would like more information about physical and mental strategies for labor and birth. It can also serve as a refresher for those who have given birth before.

You will learn:

• Non-pharmacological pain relief techniques (for part or all of your labor)
• Positions to help labor progress
• Support tips for partners
• Tips for communicating with your care provider(s)
• How to apply yoga concepts to labor and birth (though no yoga experience is required)
• Why active participation can lead to a more positive birth experience

Cost: $55 per couple

Private Childbirth Classes

Private childbirth classes are also available for couples in the privacy of their own home. A good option for mothers who are on bedrest, or those who prefer a different format or approach than that offered in a group class. Classes are customized to the couple's needs.
